Srinagar, Feb 28 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday extended congratulations to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Team for scripting history by winning their maiden Ranji Trophy title, stating that the achievement has filled the entire Union Territory with pride.
In a message posted on X, as per news agency JKNS, J&K Police praised the players for their outstanding performance and described the landmark victory as a moment of shared celebration for people across Jammu and Kashmir.
J&K secured the prestigious domestic crown on the basis of a massive first-innings lead over eight-time champions Karnataka in the final. In their debut appearance in a Ranji final, the team piled up 584 runs in response to Karnataka’s 293 and later reached 342/4 in the second innings to comfortably claim the title.
The win ended a 67-year-long wait for the trophy and marked a historic breakthrough in J&K’s red-ball cricket journey. The side’s consistency and all-round dominance throughout the season earned appreciation from cricket observers nationwide.
