Srinagar, Mar 7 (JKNS): A fire broke out in a three-storey residential house at Hamza Colony, Awanta Bhawan, Soura in Srinagar, officials said on Saturday morning.

According to Fire and Emergency Services, as per news agency JKNS, the call was received by the State Fire Control Room Batamaloo at around 10:20 pm, following which the first fire tender was dispatched within a minute. Fire tenders from Fire Station Soura and Fire Station Nowshehra rushed to the spot.

Due to the congested locality, additional reinforcements from Fire Station Syed Hameed Pora and Fire Station Safa Kadal were also pressed into service to control the blaze.

Officials said that after an intense firefighting operation, the fire was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.

In the incident, the roofing of the house was severely damaged, while the second floor suffered partial damage, officials said.

The operation was carried out under the overall guidance of Director General Fire and Emergency Services Alok Kumar, with on-ground supervision by Dr Mir Aqib Hussain and Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah. No loss of life or injuries were reported, while the cause of the fire is under investigation. (JKNS)
