Sopore, Mar 9 (JKNS): The 179 Battalion of CRPF celebrated its 87th Raising Day by organising two free medical camps in Shahabad area of Sopore, benefiting around 200 people from the local community.
Residents from Shahabad, Bhatpora, Muslimpeer, Shalpora and Mumkak areas of Sopore availed free medical check-ups, consultations and medicines during the camps.
Commanding Officer V.K. Choudhary said the participation and response from the local population was very encouraging.
“Participation and response were very good. We have provided free medicines and will continue to organise blood donation camps, sports tournaments, Bharat Darshan tours for students and other initiatives under the Madadgaar Scheme for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
He added that the 179 Battalion will continue organising such welfare activities in Sopore and adjoining areas to strengthen ties with the local community.
Local residents, including women, elderly people, drivers, traders and members of civil society, actively participated in the camp and expressed gratitude to the CRPF for the initiative.
“179 Bn CRPF is always helping our community. We are thankful for their support,” a local elder said.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Abhay Singh Bhatia, Inspector Ram Avtar Yadav, Dr Javid Ahmad Bhat and doctors from SDH Sopore. (JKNS)
