Srinagar, Mar 11 (JKNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Wednesday said that the stock position of essential petroleum supplies including petrol, diesel and LPG in Kashmir division is stable and there is no need for panic buying.

Addressing a press conference, as per news agency JKNS, Div Com Garg said the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs is closely monitoring the stock position on a daily basis.

He said that Kashmir division currently has over 15 days of petrol and diesel stock, while around 13 days of LPG stock is available, adding that the division has storage capacity of up to 15–20 days when stocked at maximum levels.

He appealed to the public to rely only on official updates and avoid panic buying. Garg said that although certain restrictions have been imposed on commercial LPG, these do not apply to domestic consumers, hospitals or educational institutions, and therefore there is no LPG crisis in the region.

The Divisional Commissioner further said that district administrations have activated control rooms and constituted squads to prevent hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities. He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found indulging in such activities.

Garg also said the government is maintaining a close watch on the supply situation, especially during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid, while market inspections have been intensified to ensure price control, food quality and availability of essential commodities across the valley.
