New Delhi, Mar 12 (JKNS): The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) flew an operational formation sortie on the Mikoyan MiG-29UPG from a forward airbase on Thursday reaffirming the leadership’s continued engagement with frontline operational units of the Indian Air Force.

The formation was led by Flight Lieutenant Parvinder Singh. Prior to recovery, the formation executed a smart peel-off manoeuvre over the runway, showcasing precision flying and the high standards of operational training maintained by the squadron.

Air Warriors of the base maintained a high state of operational readiness and actively participated in activities related to flying during the visit.

During the visit, the CAS was briefed by the Commanding Officer on the squadron’s operational role, the enhanced capabilities of the MiG-29 UPG platform, and the unit’s rich legacy. The squadron is set to complete 63 years since its induction in 1963, reflecting a long and distinguished history of service in safeguarding the nation’s skies.

The CAS also interacted with aircrew, technicians and ground personnel, acknowledging the critical role played by technical and support staff in ensuring sustained operational readiness of combat platforms.

He further met veterans from nearby areas and expressed appreciation for their continued connection with the Air Force community and their enduring contribution to its traditions.

Such visits by senior leadership reinforce the Indian Air Force’s operational ethos, provide valuable engagement with frontline personnel, and help maintain a close connect with the evolving operational environment. (JKNS)
