Srinagar, Mar 14 (JKNS): Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, IT, Science and Technology Satish Sharma today visited several prominent tourist locations in and around Srinagar, including the famous Mughal Gardens, where he interacted with tourists from different parts of the country and abroad.
During the visit, the Minister held interactions with the visitors, enquiring about their travel experiences and the facilities available at the tourist destinations.
He welcomed them to Jammu and Kashmir and expressed satisfaction over the increasing tourist influx to the Valley.
Satish Sharma said that the growing number of tourists visiting Kashmir reflects the renewed confidence of travellers in the region and highlights the immense tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir.
He maintained that the government is making sustained efforts to further strengthen tourism infrastructure and ensure that visitors have a safe, comfortable and memorable experience during their stay.
The Minister also reviewed the facilities available at the Mughal Gardens and other tourist spots and stressed the need for maintaining cleanliness, proper transport connectivity and improved visitor services.
He said that the government is committed to upgrading civic amenities, enhancing transportation services and providing all necessary support to promote tourism in the Union Territory.
Highlighting the importance of tourism for the local economy, Satish Sharma said that the sector plays a pivotal role in generating employment and livelihood opportunities for thousands of youth associated with hospitality, transport, handicrafts and other allied sectors.
The Minister also appreciated the hospitality extended by the local people towards tourists and urged visitors to explore more scenic and cultural destinations across Jammu and Kashmir.
The tourists expressed delight over the breathtaking natural beauty of Kashmir and praised the hospitality of the people as well as the arrangements made at various tourist destinations. Many visitors described their experience as memorable and said they would encourage others to visit the Valley.
Satish Sharma reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a premier tourist destination and assured that continuous efforts are being made to improve infrastructure, connectivity and services for the benefit of visitors as well as the local population. (JKNS)
