Srinagar, Mar 16 (JKNS): Youth from Jammu and Kashmir delivered an impressive performance at the regional level of the prestigious IndiaSkills Competition, securing 24 recognitions, including two gold, three silver and seven bronze medals, besides 12 Medallions for Excellence.
The competition is organised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and serves as India’s premier platform for identifying and nurturing talented youth across various vocational trades. It also acts as the national selection platform for the global WorldSkills Competition, widely regarded as the “Olympics of Skills.”
The participation of candidates from Jammu and Kashmir was facilitated through close coordination between the Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) and the National Skill Development Corporation. Regional competitions were conducted at designated venues across the country to shortlist top-performing candidates for the national stage.
Through joint efforts, JKSDM and NSDC identified and mobilised candidates and organised intensive training programmes, expert mentoring, mock assessments and continuous performance tracking aligned with national competition standards. Training partners and industry experts were also engaged to strengthen practical competencies and prepare candidates for high-level competitive benchmarks.
Among the medal winners, Diksha Rani won Gold in Fashion Technology, while Jasir Bhat secured Gold in Brick Laying.
Silver medals were bagged by Rushda Khan (Fashion Technology), Mir Mohsin Kamili (Electrical Installation) and Sahil Fayaz (Software Testing).
Bronze medals were secured in Autonomous Mobile Robotics, Cyber Security, Mechanical CAD, Health and Social Care, Automobile Technology, Brick Laying and ICT.
In addition, participants from J&K also secured 12 Medallions for Excellence across multiple skill categories, reflecting consistent high performance.
The **next stage of the IndiaSkills Competition the national-level competition will be held in New Delhi, where shortlisted candidates from across the country will compete for a place in the Indian contingent. The winners at the national level will represent the country at the upcoming WorldSkills Competition scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China.
Officials said the achievement highlights the strengthening skill ecosystem in J&K and reflects the impact of coordinated efforts by JKSDM and NSDC in promoting excellence in vocational education and competitive skilling.
The success at the regional level has further enhanced the Union Territory’s presence in national skill competitions and is expected to motivate more youth to participate in future editions of IndiaSkills and represent India at the global WorldSkills platform. (JKNS)
