Baramulla, Mar 25 (JKNS): The District Administration Baramulla has ordered the immediate closure of the Eco Park Suspension Bridge for pedestrian movement after it was declared unsafe due to structural damage.
According to an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate Baramulla, Altaf Hussain Musvi, as per news agency JKNS, the bridge has suffered significant damage to its wooden flooring at multiple locations, posing a serious risk to public safety.
Acting on a report from the Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B) Circle Baramulla, the administration invoked relevant provisions of law to prohibit public movement on the bridge with immediate effect.
The Executive Engineer, R&B Division Baramulla, has been directed to ensure complete closure of the bridge by installing barricades at both ends and placing clear warning signboards for the public. Authorities have also been instructed to take up urgent repair and restoration works.
The order states that the bridge will remain closed until necessary repairs are completed and a safety certificate is issued by the concerned engineering authority. (JKNS)
