Srinagar, Mar 26 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday warned that petrol pumps may be temporarily shut if panic buying continues, while reiterating that there is no shortage of fuel or essential commodities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters in Jammu, as per news agency JKNS, the Chief Minister said, “It is unfortunate that when the government speaks, people don’t listen, but they believe rumours. We have reviewed the situation and there is no shortage of diesel, petrol or LPG cylinders, and the situation has not changed in the last few days.”
He urged people to avoid unnecessary rush at fuel stations, saying, “I request people not to line up outside petrol pumps based on social media rumours. Do not compel us, otherwise we may have to shut petrol pumps for a few days until these rumours stop.”
Assuring that supplies remain adequate, Abdullah said the Centre is also closely monitoring the situation. “There is no shortage of oil anywhere in the country at present. People should remain calm and not create panic over baseless rumours,” he added. (JKNS)
