Budgam, Mar 27 (JKNS): Under the supreme guidance of Mr. Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority), and under the leadership and supervision of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, as well as under the guidance of Member Secretary Shazia Tabasum, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam, under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Budgam Hon’ble Mr. O.P. Bhagat and Secretary DLSA Budgam Ms. Tabasum Qadir Parray, continues to conduct awareness programmes in coordination with Tehsil Legal Services Committees (TLSCs) and in collaboration with concerned departments.
In continuation of its action plan, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Magam organized an awareness programme on Cyber Frauds and Online Scams on March 27, 2026, at Town Hall Magam. The programme was conducted in collaboration with Human Rights and Anti-Corruption (HQ Delhi/J&K UT) and Girls Higher Secondary School Magam.
The programme was inaugurated by Chairman TLSC Magam, Ms. Rabyia Snober Gulzar, and witnessed active participation from mediators, panel lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers, students, and members of the Bar.
The event was also graced by the presence of Principal GHSS Magam, Ms. Muzamil Khan, and Mr. Sheikh Ishfaq Rasool, President Bar Association Magam, whose presence added significance to the programme.
The objective of the programme was to sensitize the general public, particularly students, about the growing threat of cyber frauds and the misuse of digital platforms. Resource persons including Ms. Toiba Shafi (APP Magam), Mr. Sheikh Ishfaq Rasool, and Adv. Hilal Malla delivered informative sessions highlighting various types of cyber scams such as phishing, OTP frauds, fake job offers, social media scams, UPI frauds, and identity theft.
The speakers emphasized the importance of adopting safe digital practices, including safeguarding confidential banking information, verifying suspicious links and calls, and using secure platforms for online transactions. Participants were also made aware of legal remedies and the importance of promptly reporting cyber crimes through appropriate authorities and helplines.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, followed by an interactive session where queries were addressed by the experts.
Awareness was also raised regarding the availability of free legal aid services provided by Legal Services Authorities for victims of cyber frauds and online scams.
The District Legal Services Authority Budgam reiterated its commitment to organizing such programmes to enhance legal awareness and promote digital safety among the public.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Ms. Iram Aziz, Junior Assistant, followed by a felicitation ceremony recognizing the contributions of dignitaries and participants. (JKNS)
