Srinagar, Mar 30 (JKNS): A one-day training program titled “Future Fields Tech Driven Agriculture” was successfully organized at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) under the Agri Excellence Program supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The program witnessed active participation from students, aspiring entrepreneurs, researchers, and professionals from agriculture and allied sectors. The primary objective of the training was to create awareness about emerging technologies and innovation-driven opportunities in modern agriculture.
Expert sessions were delivered by Dr. Abdul Rouf Khan (CAIML), Mr. Abdul Rouf Khan (SKIIE), Er. Mohd Saqib (CAIML), and Dr. Arvind from IIT Jammu. The sessions focused on key themes such as smart farming, future agricultural fields, opportunities in allied sectors, agri-tech innovations, and upcoming trends in the sector.
Speakers highlighted the increasing role of digital technologies, smart sensors, and data-driven approaches in transforming traditional farming into more sustainable and profitable ventures. Participants were also encouraged to explore entrepreneurship and startup opportunities within the agri-sector.
The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, attended by Dr. Showkat Rasool, Head CAIML, and Dr. Naveed Hamid, CEO SKIIE. They appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of continued efforts in promoting technology-driven agricultural development in the region.
The event marked another important step by SKUAST-K in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development among youth, aligning with the vision of a technologically advanced agricultural ecosystem. (JKNS)
