Srinagar, Mar 31 (JKNS): A brief exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces in Arahama area of North Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday during a joint anti terror operation, officer said.

A Senior police officer confirmed to news agency JKNS that joint team of security forces came under fire during cordon and search operation launched after intelligence input, which was retaliated.

Area has been kept under tight cordon while reinforcement has been rushed towards the site and all entry and exit points sealed, he said.

Senior officials from Jammu and Kashmir police and army reached the spot to access the ongoing anti-terror operation.

Meanwhile, in a post on X, Army’s Chinar Corps, as perJKNS said, OP ARAHAMA, Ganderbal, Based on specific intelligence input, joint search operation was launched by #IndianArmy and @JmuKmrPolice in Gen area Arahama of Ganderbal.

During the search, vigilant troops observed suspicious activity. On being challenged, terrorists opened fire and own troops retaliated. Operation is in progress, post reads. (JKNS)
