Srinagar, Apr 01 (JKNS): Police have arrested a person for allegedly attacking Fire and Emergency Services personnel and obstructing firefighting operations during a blaze at Haba Kadal area of Srinagar.

Official from the fire and emergency services told news agency JKNS, that during the operation, some miscreants interfered with the rescue efforts and resorted to unruly behaviour, including physical aggression, thereby hampering the firefighting process and putting lives at risk.

Taking cognizance, Police Station Kral Khud registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During investigation, one accused identified as Abdul Majeed Sheikh of Khanyar was apprehended, while further probe is underway.

The Fire & Emergency Services Department strongly condemned the incident, terming it a serious obstruction to life-saving operations. ADGP Fire & Emergency Services Alok Kumar appealed to the public to cooperate with emergency teams and refrain from any interference, warning that such acts will invite strict legal action. (JKNS)
