Srinagar, Apr 4 (JKNS): Peoples Conference President and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone on Saturday forcefully raised the issue of non-disclosure of commercial lease data in the Assembly, questioning the government’s continued silence despite repeated attempts.

As per news agency JKNS, Sajad said, “Honorable Speaker, sir, for three sessions I have been asking questions about commercial leases… but there is no answer,” Lone said, underscoring that the matter has been consistently ignored across two budget sessions and the Srinagar session.

He stressed that “the people of Jammu and Kashmir have the right to know how much government land is under commercial lease, and how much money the government is getting.”

Lone further revealed that he had formally written to the Speaker in the previous session seeking intervention. “You said it will be provided, I have it in writing… this time also I didn’t get an answer,” he remarked, highlighting a pattern of unfulfilled assurances.

Questioning the intent behind the silence, Lone asked bluntly, “Ultimately, what is the matter? Why is the government not giving an answer regarding the commercial leases?”

He warned that continued evasion on such a crucial issue weakens transparency and erodes institutional accountability within the Assembly. (JKNS)
