Karnah, Apr 4 (JKNS): Due to continuous bad weather and intermittent rainfall, several rural areas of Karnah witnessed landslides and falling rocks throughout the day.
In many villages and adjoining areas of Chamkoot block, mud, stones, and debris accumulated on roads, causing severe difficulties for the local population.
Meanwhile, on the Karnah-Kupwara road, the administration and concerned departments acted promptly during the day and managed to reopen the blocked road, partially restoring vehicular movement. However, light snowfall and rainfall are still continuing at multiple locations along the road, making travel risky.
Near Sukh Bridge, a portion of the road has subsided, further worsening the situation. The area remains highly vulnerable, and the administration is closely monitoring this sensitive spot to respond to any emergency in time.
Additionally, the temporary footbridge over the Qazi Nag stream, connecting Tadh to Pradha, has collapsed. This has caused serious inconvenience to the local population, especially school children. The collapse of the bridge has temporarily disrupted connectivity between the two settlements. Locals have urged the administration to intervene immediately and reinstall the bridge.
The administration has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions, exercise extreme caution near hilly and vulnerable areas, and follow only official advisories and traffic plans. Due to ongoing rainfall and snowfall along the road, the risk of further landslides and falling rocks persists, and people have been urged to remain alert. (JKNS)
