Karnah: (JKNS) A dignified and memorable farewell ceremony was organized at the Pahari Cultural Hall in Tangdhar to pay tribute to Mohammad Ayub Mir Nayeem Karnahi, former Editor and Pahari Cultural Officer of the Karnah region, who retired from his position three months ago. The event was held in recognition of his valuable contributions, and was attended by prominent personalities from literary, cultural, and social circles.
The chief guest on the occasion was noted writer, singer, and President of the Pahari Cultural Club, Abdul Rashid Qureshi. In his address, he praised the lifelong services of Mohammad Ayub Mir Nayeem Karnahi, stating that he dedicated his entire life to the promotion of literature, culture, and language.
The presidium was graced by several respected and distinguished personalities of the region, including Qazi Hamid-ud-Din Qureshi, Abdul Rashid Lone “Ghamgeen,” Raja Nazar Ahmad Khan, Pirzada S.D. Qureshi, Chaudhary Shah Mohammad Rana, Abdul Rashid Bhat, and Ghazi Shabir Ahmad Sheikh.
All speakers highlighted the literary and intellectual contributions of Mohammad Ayub Mir Nayeem Karnahi, noting that he was not only an efficient administrator and editor but also a strong supporter of artists, poets, and writers. His kind nature, courteous behavior, and warm personality, they said, will always be remembered.
During the event, Headmaster Khawaja Khalid Mahmood, Iftikhar Ahmad Qureshi, Iftikhar Ahmad Khawaja, Master Farooq Ahmad, Mir Haider Nadeem, and Asif Mir, along with others, also addressed the audience and expressed their views, paying rich tributes to his services.
It is worth mentioning that his official retirement took place three months ago in Srinagar, where a function was also held in his honour at Tagore Hall. However, today’s ceremony in his native region of Karnah reflected a special and heartfelt gesture by the people associated with Pahari language and literature, who organized a separate and enthusiastic event to express their love and admiration for their beloved son.
