Srinagar, Apr 15 (JKNS): In a significant push towards building a drug-free society, the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan is gaining momentum at the grassroots level, with an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) van actively traversing remote and rural areas of Harwan block to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

Moving through several panchayats including Dara-B, Gandthal, Fakir Gujri and adjoining areas, the IEC van, equipped with a public address system, disseminates powerful messages on the harmful effects of substance abuse, preventive measures, and the importance of collective responsibility in tackling the menace.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Information Department in collaboration with Rural Development Department, reflects a proactive approach to reach communities at their doorsteps.

The use of audio messaging ensures that even those in far-flung areas are not left out of the awareness campaign.

The van does not only spreads information but also sparks conversations among locals, particularly youth, about the long-term consequences of drug addiction.

The campaign emphasizes early intervention, community vigilance, and the role of families in guiding individuals away from substance abuse.

Local residents have responded positively to the initiative, appreciating the government’s efforts to address the growing concern of drug abuse through direct outreach. The presence of the IEC van in their neighborhoods has reinforced the message that awareness is the first step towards prevention.

The initiatives like the IEC van campaign are vital in bridging the information gap and empowering communities with knowledge and resources. (JKNS)
