Budgam, Apr 17 (JKNS): A one-day awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was successfully organized at Town Hall Beerwah by the Chemists Distribution Association Beerwah in collaboration with the Drugs Control Organisation Budgam.

 

The programme witnessed the participation of several senior officers and prominent personalities, including Deputy Drug Controller Budgam Nazir Ahmad, Drugs Control Officer Budgam Headquarters Imtiyaz Ahmad Shalla, Drugs Control Officer Beerwah Sub-Division Syed Tasaduq Hussain, SHO Police Station Beerwah Aijaz Ahmad, Naib Tehsildar Beerwah, Mirwaiz Central Kashmir Abdul Lateef Bukhari, and social activist from the educational sector of Kashmir Valley Manjeet Singh Gill.

 

A large number of chemists and distributors, members of civil society, Traders Federation Beerwah, local residents, and other stakeholders also attended the event.

 

During the programme, speakers expressed deep concern over the rising menace of drug abuse in society and emphasized the need for collective efforts to eradicate this social evil. Deputy Drug Controller Nazir Ahmad highlighted the importance of strict enforcement of drug-related laws and raising awareness among youth to build a drug-free society.

 

Mirwaiz Central Kashmir Abdul Lateef Bukhari stressed moral and social responsibilities and urged people to work together for the protection of future generations.

 

SHO Beerwah Aijaz Ahmad appealed to parents to closely monitor their children’s activities and guide them properly to keep them away from drug abuse.

 

Speakers also highlighted the crucial role of educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley in creating awareness against drug abuse. Social activist Manjeet Singh Gill emphasized the need to strengthen public participation under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

 

General Secretary of the Chemists Distribution Association Beerwah, Mushtaq Ahmad, also addressed the gathering and reaffirmed continued support for anti-drug initiatives.

 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the participation of officials, civil society members, and the general public. (JKNS)
