MY STARTUP CONTEST: AN INITIATIVE FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Srinagar, 04 Apr 2020.  Amid large number of initiatives being undertaken by the government to promote women empowerment in the country, Britannia Marie Gold in association with the National Skill Development Corporation have taken a step ahead to propel young women entrepreneurs by nurturing their business ventures and funding their dreams and aspirations. The Britannia Marie Gold – My Startup Contest shall provide 10 women the opportunity to kick start their dream venture by providing them a sum of ₹10 Lacs each.The competition is divided into two parts, Stage 1 being, registration for the competition where the prospective entrepreneurs answer three basic questions pertaining to their business venture and submit their ideas followed by Stage 2, wherein, shortlisted participants from Stage 1 are called for a personal interview by the entrepreneurial team of Britannia Marie Gold to finalise the winners. In order to encourage participation in the contest and fine tune their business ideas, 30 girls of SSM College, Srinagar interacted with Mr Vasu Kumar, Business Coach and Startup Mentor, via video conferencing on 03 April 2020. The conference was organized by Shalateng Military Garrison, that saw the budding entrepreneurs present their ideas to the mentor, in order to fine tune and understand the means to overcome the various challenges that would be experienced while undertaking the business venture. The interaction saw Mr Vasu Kumar share his experience in the form of a presentation to educate the environment on the basic process on converting an idea into a successful business proposition. The interaction saw an active and enthusiastic participation of the women, who posed a wide variety of questions and cleared the air of uncertainty that surrounded them. The participants thanked the Army for providing them a platform to incubate their business ideas and mentioned that initiatives like these would empower more women to become independent and achieve their dreams.
