Srinagar, Dec 12: National Investigation Agency Saturday denied the reports about the acquittal of all the accused involved in the killing of Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith chief Jammu and Kashmir, Molvi Showkat as baseless and misleading.

In a statement issued to the news agency, an official spokesperson said that on Friday misleading news was published by some media houses that NIA Court in Srinagar has acquitted all accused in a case related to the killing of chief of Jamiat-e-Ahlihadeeth, J&K.

He said that it is clarified that for all the cases of NIA in Jammu & Kashmir, the trials are conducted by the NIA Special Court at Jammu, which has been designated by Ministry of Home Affairs and Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
“
“In the current year, all the designated NIA Special Courts in India have pronounced judgements in 11 cases till date and NIA has been able to secure 100 per cent conviction,” the spokesperson said.

He further said that the reference to the term NIA Court in respect of the designated court dealing with Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act cases in Srinagar is misinformation leading to raising of doubts about NIA’s working.

Pertinently, it was reported on Friday that a special court of NIA has acquitted all the five persons accused involved in the killing the Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith Chief, Molvi Showkat.

Molvi Showkat Ahmad Shah was killed in an IED explosion outside a mosque in Maisuma on April 8 in 2011.
