Two drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar
Srinagar, Dec 12 : Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Srinagar claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued to the news agency, spokesman said that officers from Police Station Shaheedgunj intercepted two persons during daily routine checking of vehicles at Jehlum Market Batmaloo.
They have been identified as Waseem Bashir Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Palapora Noorbagh, Srinagar and Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi of Hamdania Colony Bemina, Srinagar.
During checking, officers were able to recover 13 grams of Heroin like substance from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Shaheedgunj where they remain in custody, spokesman said.
Accordingly, police said a case under FIR number 156/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Shaheedgunj and further investigation has been initiated.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” the statement said.
