02 Drug peddlers arrested by Police in Budgam & Anantnag

March 31: Police in a series of action against drug dealings have arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam & Anantnag. Contraband substance recovered from their possession.

In Budgam, officers at a checkpoint established at Brail Watrihail, intercepted a person identified as Lateef Ahmed Baba resident of Gund Alinaik Waterihail. During checking, officers were able to recover 135 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Khansahib where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 40/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khansahib and investigation in to the matter has been initiated.

Similarly in Anantnag, acting on specific information Police party from PS Anantnag apprehended one individual identified as Jan Mohammad Thoker resident of Rooh Anantnag and recovered 466 banned capsules from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

When officers spoke to him they learnt about the involvement of another individual identified as Vakeel Ahmad Parray resident of Nouvath Dantar Anantnag who managed to escape during raid.

Case FIR No.61/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Anantnag regarding the incident and further investigation is going on.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
