DC Kupwara interacts with religious leaders, Imams, Khateebs Seeks cooperation in Covid-19 containment

KUPWARA, APRIL 23: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today  held an interactive meeting with prominent religious leaders, Imams and Khateebs with an aim to seek their opinion to sensitize the people about the pandemic and the SOPs to be followed in Covid-19 containment.

    While addressing the meeting, the DC said that Religious leaders, Imams, Khateebs and Management Committees of other local Masjids have a key role in the battle against fresh  wave of Covid-19 and  urged upon them  to use their influence to ensure that every person shall  follow the COVID appropriate behavior,  use mask, maintain hand hygiene  and keep social distance.

     He also  urged upon them to proactively sensitize the people to  get vaccinated at an earliest, which is safe and imperative to contain Covid-19 infection.

     The DC said that the war against the pandemic cannot be won without active cooperation of the people and everyone needs to take extra care and adhere to Covid-19 SOPs in letter and spirit.

    On the occasion, the Religious Ulemas and Khateebs  assured full support  to the administration in fighting the war against Covid-19 pandemic. They said safety of people is priority and will extend all cooperation to the decisions of administration for safety and protection of  society.

    On the occasion, the participants put forth their opinions and suggestions before the DC to prevent and contain the fresh wave of Covid-19 .

    Meanwhile, it was given out in the meeting that it shall be mandatory for the people to follow Covid-19 SOPs in all mosques of the district to contain the spread of the pandemic.

     Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Tehsildar Kupwara were also present on the occasion.

      Earlier, a similar meeting of religious leaders was convened by Tehsil Administration Tangdar to get their coordination  in containing the pandemic.
