April 23: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party from Police Station Mattan at a checkpoint established at Aunag Mattipora intercepted one person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Aziz Sofi resident of Kandarpora Guree Anantnag. On checking, 200 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
In another action, another police party of Police Station Mattan headed by SHO Mattan during area domination apprehended a suspected person identified as Gulzar Ahmad Paddar son of Mohd Ramzan Paddar resident of Nanil Mattan. On checking, 02 kilograms of cannabis powder & 04 kilograms of Bung Bossa were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, case vide FIR numbers 26/2021 & 27/2021 were registered in Police Station Mattan respectively and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
