Police arrests two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Budgam; Contraband substances recovered

May 01: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Janbazpora Baramulla intercepted a person identified as Showkat Ahmad Khan son of Gh Mohd Khan resident of Nadihal Rafiabad (employee of PHE Deptt).  During checking, officers were able to recover 650 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been taken up.

Pertinent to mention here that Baramulla Police have arrested 30 drug peddlers during the month of April.

Similarly in Budgam, police party from Police Station Charar-e-Sharief at a checkpoint established at Kanidajan Crossing intercepted a person identified as Mohammad Saleem Bhat@ Saleem Nari son of Mohammad Ahsan Bhat resident of Nowhar Charar-e-Sharief.  During checking, officers were able to recover 200 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 29/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Charar-e-Sharief and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
