Ganderbal police arrests timber smuggler; illicit timber seized

May 22: Police in Ganderbal have arrested a timber smuggler and seized illicit timber.

Acting on specific information about timber smuggling, a police party from Police Station Kangan on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Suhail Munawar Mir-JKPS under the supervision of SDPO Kangan raided the particular spot during the intervening night of 21/22 May 2021 and seized large cache of illicit green timber from one person identified as Mohammad Rafiq Bajard son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Laman, Baba Nagri Kangan area of district Ganderbal. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 44/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kangan and further investigation has been initiated.

 The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of Green Gold. Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
