Police arrests 02 drug peddlers; Psychotropic substances recovered

June 30: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.

Officers from PS Nigeen at a checkpoint established at Ashai Bagh intercepted a vehicle (Tavera) bearing registration number JK01N-3764 with two persons on board who after noticing a police party tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Lone @ Bosha son of Mohammad Amin Lone resident of Lal Bazaar & Adil Gulzar Hazari son of Gulzar Ahmad Hazari resident of Nowshera Srinagar. During search, officers were able to recover 543 banned capsules from their possession.

They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 76/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Nigeen and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
