Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 07 drug peddlers in Awantipora, Baramulla, Kulgam & Kupwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora at a checkpoint at Dogripora intercepted a vehicle ECO bearing registration number JK05M-4630 with 02 persons onboard. During search, 1.680 Kgms of grinded cannabis was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Arif Ahmad son of Sona ullah War and Naseer Ahmad War son of Mohd Maqbool War both resident of Warpora Sopore. It is pertinent to mention here that from last five days, six drugs peddlers including a lady drug peddler have been arrested, two notorious drug peddlers were booked under PIT NDPS and one vehicle identified during investigation as illegal acquired property was seized by Police District Awantipora.
In Baramulla, a police party from Police Station Pattan, led by SHO Police Station Pattan, at a checkpoint established near Kalsari Pattan intercepted a bike (two-wheeler) without registration number ridden by 03 persons. They have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohammad resident of Pethgam Wagoora, Tahir Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Ahmad resident of Warpora Tangmarg and Nisar Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Rasool resident of Durhama Wagoora. During search, 90 grams of contraband Charas was recovered from their possession.
In Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Yaripora at a checkpoint established at Yaripora intercepted a vehicle (Auto) bearing registration number JK18D-4779 driven by Sajad Ahmad Khar son of Mohd Abdullah Khar resident of Kharpora. During search, 900 grams of Cannabis Powder recovered.
In Kupwara, a Police party of Police Station Kralpora at a checkpoint established at Guzriyal Reshigund Crossing, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan son of Lal Khan resident of Lone Harri Tangwari. During search, 20.09 grams of a charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
All the accused have been arrested and vehicles used in commission of crime have been seized. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.

Police observes Thana Diwas in Srinagar & Budgam districts
December 12: As a part of the public outreach program, Police in Srinagar & Budgam observed ‘Thana Diwas’ across various Police Stations and Police Posts.
In Srinagar, Thana Diwas events were organized in Thirteen Police Stations & two Police Posts of the district which include PS Lalbazar, PS Shergarhi, PS Khanyar, PS Nowgam, PS Kralkhud, PS Bemina, PS Shalteng, PS Chanpora, PS Ahmad Nagar, PS Karan Nagar, PS Nowhatta, PS Kothibagh, PS Zadibal, PP Rangreth and PP Urdu Bazar.
The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers & jurisdictional police officers and were attended by civil society members including members of Auqaf Committees, members of Traders Federation and Transporters, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Mohallah elders etc.
During these meetings, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and put forth their grievances which were within the domain of district police like illegal narcotics trafficking, sand mafia, traffic issues etc. and some of the issues highlighted pertaining to civil administration like improvement and maintenance of roads, sanitation, public health, electricity etc were also recorded. Police assured them that genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and dealt as per law and those pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their timely redressal.
In Budgam, police observe ‘Thana Diwas’ at Police Station of Chrar-i-Sharief, Police Station Magam, Police Station Budgam and Police Post Soibugh, Police Post Hardpanzoo, Police Post Mouchwa and Police Post Waterihal. These events were chaired by respective jurisdictional officers. During these events, the officers listened to the various grievances of the public and assured them that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority & that of the other departments will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal.
Participants were urged to co-operate with police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti- national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society.
By organising ‘Thana Diwas’, J&K Police reinforces its commitment to improve transparency and accountability in policing at grassroot level and to develop confidence and synergy between police and citizens for effective redressal of grievances and enhanced police-public relationship.
Piping ceremony held at District Police Headquarters Kupwara
December 12: A Piping Ceremony was held today at District Police Headquarters Kupwara for the promotion of Lady Insp. Dalbir Kour, presently serving as SHO Women Police Station Kupwara, to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police. The ceremony was presided over by SSP Kupwara, Shri Ghulam Jeelani-JKPS.
The event witnessed the presence of several officers, including Additional SP Kupwara Ghulam Mohd Bhat-JKPS, DySP DAR Kupwara Syed Mujahid-Ul-Haq-JKPS, and DySP Hqrs Kupwara Mohd Rafee Rather-JKPS, alongwith other senior officers of the District Police.
In his address, SSP Kupwara congratulated DySP Dalbir Kour on her well-deserved promotion and lauded her contributions as SHO Women Police Station Kupwara. He emphasized the significant role of women officer in the district police and expressed confidence in her ability to continue serving the department and the community with dedication and professionalism.

Police attaches property worth lacs of notorious drug peddler in Pulwama
December 12: In a relentless effort to curb the menace of drug peddling, Police in Pulwama today attached a single storey residential house valuing approximately Rs.20 lacs, belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Javaid Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohd Shaban Ganie resident of Loolipora Kakapora.
The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Pulwama police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner. Pertinently the said drug peddler is presently lodged in central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu under PIT NDPS act.
The action has been taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR no 15/2023 U/S 8/15 of NDPS act of PS Kakapora and FIR No. 220/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Pulwama.
This action reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immovable property, which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Pulwama district.
Police attaches property of notorious drug peddler worth lacs in Awantipora
December 12: Continuing its operation against drug peddlers, Police in Awantipora attached a single-storied, residential house valuing approximately 25 lacs belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Tajamul Masoodi son of Late Badrudin Masoodi resident of Bagander, Pampore under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985.
This property was identified as illegally acquired during the course of enquiry conducted by SHO Police Station Pampore, under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, which was accrued from illicit trafficking in Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances by the said drug peddler. The said drug peddler is also involved in many cases. It is pertinent to mention here that the said drug peddler is currently detained under PIT-NDPS Act and lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu.

Police solves burglary case in Sopore, Stolen property recovered
December 12: Police in Sopore have solved a burglary case by arresting 02 accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property from their possession.
Police Post Bus Stand received an application from one person namely Mohammad Yousuf Shah son of Abdul Gani resident of Seelo Sopore, stating therein that during intervening night of 7/8 December 2024, some unknown burglars have looted his Kiryana shop at Seelo Sopore. Accordingly, case FIR No. 251/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, some suspects were called for questioning. Investigating team with strenuous efforts and by using all available means zeroed in on 02 suspected persons who confessed their involvement in the commission of crime. They have been identified as Ubaid Shafi Hajam son of Mohammad Shafi Hajam resident of Seelo Sopore and Faisal Ashraf Shah son of Mohammad Ashraf Shah resident of Wadoora Payee. Both the accused have been arrested and, on their disclosure, stolen property was recovered from their possession.

Police solves theft case in Sopore, Five arrested
December 12: Police in Sopore solved a theft case by arresting 05 accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen livestock.
Police Post Warpora received an application from one individual namely Fayaz Ahmad War son of Late Mohammad Sultan War resident of Warpora Sopore regarding the theft of his livestock (04 cows) from his cow shed. Upon receipt of the complaint, a case was registered relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore and investigation was initiated.
On the directions of SP Sopore Smt. Divya D-IPS, a SIT comprising of SHO Police Station Sopore and Incharge Police Post Warpora headed by SDPO Sopore was constituted. After strenuous efforts and with the help of technical inputs, one person identified as Manzoor Ahmad War son of Abdul Rashid War resident of Raj Mohalla Warpora was apprehended. During the investigation, he confessed that he had committed the crime along with four others. They have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Lone son of Mohammad Maqbool Lone, Bilal Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Rasool Malik both the residents of Raj Mohalla Warpora, Ashiq Hussain Lone son of Mohammad Maqbool Lone and Mohammad Asif Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat both the residents of Zyootmulla Bandipora.
All the accused have been arrested and on their disclosure 02 cows have been recovered from their possession and a vehicle bearing registration no. JK15B-3463 used in commission of crime has also been seized. Further investigation of the case is going on, more recoveries are expected.
