New Delhi, Feb 2 (UNI) A 110-member delegation, including Heads of Mission, spouses of HoMs, and diplomats from 71 countries visited the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Many of them were seen taking a holy dip in the river and offering prayers.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a post on X shared pictures of the diplomats taking a holy dip in the river, including some with rudraksha bead necklaces around their necks.
The delegation was accompanied to the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela by Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita.
Japanese Ambassador Ono Keiichi posted pictures of himself cupping his hands and pouring the river water over his head, and then folding his hands, at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
“I am delighted that the state government and the MEA organized this trip for diplomats,” he is quoted as saying.
The Ambassador of Nepal Shankar Sharma posted pictures of himself at the Mahakumbh along with MoS Margherita.
The Mahakumbh is held at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati rivers.
