Budgam, Dec 12 (JKNS): Budgam Police have launched a district-wide drive and intensified checking in view of the increasing instances of vehicles being brought from other states without completing the requisite documentation.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, During the operations, Budgam Police seized 11 vehicles found violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act across the district. These vehicles had been brought from outside the Union Territory but had not undergone the mandatory legal transfer of ownership to their current users—an issue that has emerged as a widespread concern across the UT of J&K. This lapse is not only a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act but also a matter of significant security relevance. In addition, strict legal action has been taken across the district against violators involved in triple riding, riding without helmets, and rash driving.

Unregistered or illegally transferred vehicles can be misused for criminal or anti-national activities, including smuggling, theft, or transportation of unauthorized goods, thereby posing a serious threat to public safety and national security.

Budgam Police urge all vehicle owners and users across the district to strictly comply with legal norms and ensure timely transfer of ownership to avoid seizure, penalties, or other legal consequences. (JKNS)
