Qalamabad, Dec 12 (JKNS): Handwara Police on Friday organised a Mega Thana Diwas outreach programme at Police Station Qalamabad, aimed at strengthening community engagement and addressing public grievances.
The event was chaired by SSP Handwara, Shri Sahil Sarangal (IPS).
A large number of local residents, members of the Traders Federation Qalamabad–Batagund, civil society representatives, and other public stakeholders participated in the programme.
Attendees highlighted various issues related to civil administration, drug abuse, road connectivity, and civic amenities.
Several police-related grievances were resolved on the spot, while issues concerning other departments were duly noted with assurances that they would be forwarded to the concerned authorities for timely action.
Speaking on the occasion, the ASP Handwara emphasized the crucial role of public cooperation in maintaining law and order, combating drug abuse, and identifying anti-social elements.
“The grievances raised by the public will be taken up with the district administration for immediate redressal. Police will extend all necessary legal assistance for the betterment of society,” he said.
SSP Handwara Shri Sahil Sarangal (IPS) said that Thana Diwas serves as an effective platform for citizens to voice their concerns and offer constructive suggestions, thereby strengthening the police–public relationship. He further assured that such outreach programmes will continue in the coming months.
Local residents appreciated the proactive efforts of Handwara Police in curbing drug addiction and maintaining peace and public order in the region.
The programme was attended by Numberdars, Chowkidars, former PRI members, Masjid Committee representatives, members of the Traders Federation Qalamabad/Batagund, transporters, and other prominent citizens of the area. (JKNS)
