Says NC Misled Jobless Youth with False Assurances
Srinagar, Dec 31 (JKNS): Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Wednesday mounted a sharp attack on the National Conference (NC) government, accusing it of nepotism, deceit and betraying unemployed youth by failing to honour its poll commitments.
Speaking to reporters, LoP Sharma, as per news agency JKNS criticised the re-engagement of retired officials, alleging that favoured relatives of political leaders were being accommodated through official orders.
“A retired officer, closely linked to a senior leader, has been brought back through GAD orders. Earlier, another retired official was adjusted in the Tourism Department,” Sharma said.
The BJP leader alleged that the Omar Abdullah-led government’s policies have harmed youth interests and eroded public confidence.
“Omar Abdullah promised one lakh jobs to unemployed youth. What the people got instead were a few appointments for retired relatives. This is a clear betrayal, and BJP strongly condemns such practices,” he said.
Questioning the government’s welfare narrative, Sharma termed the promise of subsidised electricity as misleading.
“Did anyone actually receive the 200 free electricity units promised in the budget? Even under PM Surya Urja Muft Bijli Yojana, around eight lakh registered families are still waiting,” he alleged.
Sharma further claimed that the NC government has failed across sectors including employment, governance and development.
“They keep harping on issues like freedom, communalism and foreign countries, but when it comes to real governance, there is nothing to show. Projects completed during the LG administration are now being claimed by NC ministers just for publicity,” he said.
Referring to his recent visit to Assam, Sharma expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a third consecutive term in the state.
“The BJP will once again form the government in Assam, and West Bengal will follow,” he said. (JKNS)
