Jammu, Jan 1 (JKNS): A vigilance check was conducted in a train running from Srinagar (SINA) to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) has led to the detection of known irregularities and recovery of government revenue, officials said on Thursday.
Railway officials told news agency JKNS, the inspection was carried out between Banihal (BAHL) Train No. 26402 and SVDK, during which excess and undeclared government cash amounting to ₹10,830 was found in the possession of on-duty ticket checking staff.
They further said that 33 passengers were detected travelling without valid tickets in various manned coaches. An amount of ₹36,130 was realised from these passengers on account of fare and penalty.
The vigilance action, officials said, resulted in the immediate recovery of government revenue and underlined the role of regular checks in curbing ticketless travel and ensuring financial discipline in passenger train operations.
The vigilance check was conducted by a team from NR Vigilance, Baroda House, comprising Prince Sethi, Samar, Sandeep Kumar and Ajit Kumar Tripathi. (JKNS)
