Sopore, Apr 14 (JKNS): Sopore Police have arrested eight miscreants during a series of night-long raids who had allegedly infiltrated a peaceful protest by students at Government Girls Higher Secondary School and created law & order disturbances, including acts of vandalism resulting in damage to public property, officials said.

Police sources told news agency JKNS that, the miscreants attempted to exploit the situation by instigating unrest and engaging in unlawful activities. Acting swiftly, police launched a targeted operation and apprehended the involved individuals.

Sources further said that 25 other miscreants have been identified, and efforts are underway to apprehend them at the earliest.

Police officials also appreciated the cooperation and support extended by students, parents, and the general public in maintaining peace and order during the situation. They urged the public to continue assisting law enforcement agencies by sharing information regarding any such elements.

Officials reiterated that strict and lawful action will be taken against anyone attempting to take advantage of sensitive situations to disturb public peace.

Sopore Police, in coordination with peace-loving citizens, remain committed to maintaining peace, security, and normalcy across the district, the sources added. (JKNS)
