Karnah, Apr 14 (JKNS): The festival of Baisakhi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and communal harmony in Triboni village of Karnah, Kupwara district.

The event witnessed active participation from civil society, the Indian Army, and the civil administration, reflecting the spirit of unity in the region.

A special programme was organized at Gurdwara Singh Sahib, where members of the Sikh community were joined by people from other communities to mark the occasion. The celebration highlighted the cultural richness of the Sikh tradition and the inclusive nature of Karnah’s society.

Speaking to the media, Joginder Inqalabi from the Sikh community expressed his appreciation for the collective participation and emphasized that such events strengthen mutual respect and brotherhood among different communities.

Raja Waqar, a representative of civil society, also addressed the gathering and described the bond between the Sikh and Muslim communities in Karnah as exemplary. He noted that this harmony stands as a model of peaceful coexistence.

Karnah, a tehsil in Kupwara district with a population of around one lakh, has only one Sikh-majority village—Triboni. Despite their small number, the Sikh community shares a strong and respectful relationship with the Muslim majority.

The presence of the Indian Army and civil administration further reinforced the message of unity, cooperation, and shared heritage, making the Baisakhi celebration a symbol of peace and communal harmony in Karnah. (JKNS)
