TLSC Magam Organizes POSH Act Awareness Programme at GDC Magam

Budgam, Apr 16 (JKNS): Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Magam, under the aegis of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Hon’ble Justice OP. Bhagat, District Legal Services Authority Budgam, and supervision of Secretary Ms. Tasabum Pari, organized an awareness programme on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (POSH Act)” at Government Degree College (GDC) Magam.

 

The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Forum (J&K UT) and the Women Development Cell of GDC Magam.

 

Ms. Rabiya Sanoobar Gulzar, Chairperson TLSC Magam, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Tasleema Banoo, Principal GDC Magam, extended full support in organizing the programme.

 

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Shabana Ali, Convener, Women Development Cell, who highlighted the importance of ensuring safety, dignity, and equal rights for women at workplaces.

 

Resource persons including Mr. Mudassir Ahmad Naiko, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Khattana, Mr. Shahid Zubair, Advocate Hilal Ahmad Malla, Advocate Manzoor Mattoo, and Advocate Sheikh Ashfaq Rasool elaborated on various aspects of the POSH Act, with particular emphasis on prevention, prohibition, and redressal mechanisms.

 

The speakers also stressed legal safeguards available to women, the role of Internal Committees, and the need for a safe, respectful, and gender-equal work environment.

 

Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), students, faculty members, and staff participated actively, making the programme highly informative and interactive. Certificates were also distributed among students and staff members on the occasion.

 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Iram Aziz Junior, Assistant TLSC Magam, who appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders, collaborating organizations, faculty, and participants. (JKNS)
