Srinagar, Apr 17 (JKNS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi on Friday stressed the need for heightened vigilance and foolproof security arrangements, directing officers to ensure there are no lapses ahead of forthcoming events across the Valley.

As per news agency JKNS, IGP Birdi, chaired a security review meeting at PCR Kashmir to evaluate and finalize security arrangements for the forthcoming events in the Kashmir Valley.

The meeting was attended by IG CRPF Srinagar Sector, IG CRPF KOS, Additional Commissioner SB Srinagar; DIsG of CRPF (North Srinagar & KOS); DIG Traffic Kashmir; DIG CKR; DIG SKR; DIG BSF Ops Ftr; DIG SSB Srinagar, DIG ITBP; all District SSsP of Kashmir Zone; Assistant Director SIB Srinagar; Colonel GS 15 Corps; SSsP of PCR Kashmir, Traffic Rural Kashmir, Railways Kashmir, Security Kashmir, SDRF 1st Bn Srinagar, CID CI Kashmir, APCR, Traffic City Srinagar and other senior officers.

 

The meeting primarily focused on review of security arrangements in anticipation of the forthcoming events. Deliberations emphasized the need to further strengthen the existing security framework, and optimize deployment of personnel at critical and sensitive locations.

 

IGP Kashmir directed officers to intensify surveillance on anti-national elements and to enhance area domination in their respective jurisdictions. He stressed the necessity of strengthening security arrangements around vulnerable installations including prominent tourist destinations, to ensure a safe and secure environment for visitors. He further emphasized strict surveillance along inter-district boundaries to prevent any suspicious movement.

 

Special directions were issued regarding effective traffic management in Srinagar city, with instructions to implement a comprehensive traffic plan aimed at easing congestion, ensuring smooth vehicular movement, and minimizing inconvenience to the public.

 

IGP Kashmir also reviewed preparedness related to Hajj arrangements, directing officers to ensure adequate security, facilitation, and coordination at all designated points to guarantee the safe and orderly movement of pilgrims.

 

V.K Birdi instructed district heads to maintain strict vigilance over social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation that could adversely impact public safety and order. IGP Kashmir also called for intensified cordon and search operations, particularly in sensitive areas across the Valley and along National Highways.

 

The meeting concluded with a firm resolve to maintain the highest standards of preparedness, coordination, and responsiveness to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of all forthcoming events. (JKNS)
