Srinagar, Apr 20 (JKNS): Chief Principal Census Officer (CPCO) and Director Census Operations (DCO), Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Shri Amit Sharma today chaired separate review meetings to assess the progress of Census 2027 preparations in the two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh in Jammu.
The review focused on fund flow, training, publicity and operational readiness for the upcoming Census exercise.
During the review of Ladakh, Shri Laltinkhuma Franklin, Commissioner Secretary and Nodal Officer for Census 2027 in the Union Territory of Ladakh, informed that requisite funds to Principal Census Officers are expected to be released shortly. He also apprised that district level training of Field Trainers will be completed within the notified timelines.
Publicity measures for the forthcoming House Listing Operations and Self-Enumeration phases were also reviewed. It was informed that awareness campaigns will be carried out in local languages, with emphasis on community outreach through educational institutions and public engagement initiatives.
Directions were issued for timely submission of lists of special charges, including defence and paramilitary establishments at Leh and Kargil, to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Reviewing the status in Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Madan Gopal Sharma, Nodal Officer for Census 2027, informed that funds have been released to most Principal Census Officers, while the remaining will be released shortly upon receipt of expenditure details. Emphasising timely execution, Amit Sharma directed that financial processes be completed expeditiously.
The progress of training of Field Trainers across districts was also reviewed, with the training programme reported to be underway and expected to be completed within the stipulated timelines. (JKNS)
