Srinagar, Apr 24 (JKNS): Intensifying its crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police on Friday arrested five drug peddlers in four separate NDPS cases during coordinated operations across the district, recovering contraband substances and tightening the noose around narcotics networks.
In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, Anantnag Police have registered four NDPS cases and arrested Five accused in separate operations across the district.
Police Post Sangam, acting on a specific tip-off, raided the residence of Mohammad Younis Dar of Semthan and recovered 246 grams of charas (08 sticks). The accused was arrested and FIR No. 102/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered.
At Ashajipora Bypass, a naka party of Police Post Janglatmandi intercepted a vehicle. While one fled the spot, two accused namely Fardin Khan @ Sameer Khan of Qazi Mohallah and Numaan Riyaz Khan of Lazibal were apprehended with contraband substances. Case FIR No. 114/2026 has been registered, it reads.
During naka checking at Donipawa, one person identified as Nisar Ahmad Shergojri of Sherpora was apprehended with a substance resembling poppy straw. FIR No. 115/2026 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered.
In another operation, Police Post Bus Stand apprehended Adnan Ishaq Mir of Ashajipora at Tarbal Chee and recovered approximately 2 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. FIR No. 116/2026 under Section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered, it reads.
