Sopore Police Intensify Anti-Drug Crackdown, Two Peddlers Held in Separate NDPS Cases

Sopore, Apr 25 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Sopore Police has achieved another breakthrough by arresting two drug peddlers in separate operations and recovering contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.

As per news agency JKNS, In the first instance, during patrolling near Public Park Chinkipora, Sopore, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, psychotropic substance (Spasmoproxyvon capsules) was recovered and seized as per due procedure.

The accused has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Malla, S/O Ali Mohammad Malla, R/O Maharajpora C Sopore.

In a separate instance, during naka checking at Shiva Crossing, a naka party of Police Station Bomai intercepted one person identified as Showkat Ahmad Shah, S/O Reyaz Ahmad Shah, R/O Dooru Sopore. Upon personal search, contraband charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, FIR No. 100/2026 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and FIR No. 32/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bomai.

Further investigation in both cases is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.

Sopore Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and emphasised that strict enforcement and targeted investigations under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan will continue to dismantle drug networks and safeguard society from the menace of drugs. (JKNS)
