Srinagar, Apr 27 (JKNS): A ‘Run for Unity’ marathon was organised by the Sub-Divisional Administration Kokernag on Monday as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir campaign, with the event flagged off from Botanical Garden Kokernag.
The marathon, as per news agency JKNS, was held under the 100-day intensive anti-drug campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to raise awareness against substance abuse across the Union Territory.
Officials said the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, civil society members, youth and locals, aiming to spread awareness about the ill effects of drug addiction and encourage adoption of a healthy and positive lifestyle.
They added that such initiatives are intended to channel the energy of youth towards constructive activities like sports and fitness, while reinforcing the message of a drug-free society.
The first three positions in the marathon were secured by Mohd Zaffar from GDC Kokernag, Ibrar Hussain from GHSS Kharpora, and Naveed Rashid from GHSS Kokernag, respectively. (JKNS)
