Beerwah, Apr 29 (JKNS): Budgam Police organized a comprehensive medical awareness programme on drug abuse at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Beerwah under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, aimed at sensitizing youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthier society.

 

The programme witnessed active participation from youth, members of civil society, representatives of the Transport Association and Traders Federation, students, and officials from the Health Department. Doctors from Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Beerwah also attended and shared valuable insights during the session.

 

Speaking on the occasion, SHO Beerwah Ajaz Ahmad expressed concern over the rising trend of substance abuse among youth and stressed the need for collective efforts to tackle the issue. He urged students and community members to remain vigilant and actively contribute to spreading awareness.

 

Medical Officer, SDH Beerwah, Dr. Fozia Nazir, elaborated on the serious medical consequences of drug addiction, explaining its adverse impact on both physical and mental health. She emphasized the importance of early intervention, proper counseling, and strong community support in addressing the problem.

 

Health Counselor, SDH Beerwah, Rifat Ara, also spoke about the psychological aspects of substance abuse, underlining the need for awareness, emotional support, and timely guidance for individuals at risk.

 

The programme concluded with a strong message emphasizing the shared responsibility of society in eliminating drug abuse and fostering a safe, healthy, and drug-free environment for future generations. (JKNS)
