“Zero Tolerance on Narcotics”: Pulwama Police Busts Illegal Poppy Cultivation, Accused Arrested

Pulwama, Apr 30 (JKNS): In a decisive action against the drug menace, Pulwama Police detected and destroyed illegal poppy cultivation in Monghama village, arresting the accused and registering a case under the NDPS Act in a continued crackdown on narcotic activities.

 

As per news agency JKNS, Continuing its sustained efforts against the drug menace, Pulwama Police achieved a significant success by detecting and destroying illegal poppy cultivation in village Monghama.

 

It was reliably learnt that one individual, identified as Showkat Ahmad Shah S/o Ali Mohd Shah R/o Monghama, had illegally cultivated poppy on his land. Acting promptly on the information, a police party reached the spot and confirmed the illicit cultivation.

 

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 69/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been taken up. During the course of investigation, all legal formalities were duly completed and the accused has been arrested.

 

The illegal poppy cultivation was destroyed on the spot in the presence of officials from the Excise, Agriculture and Revenue Departments.

 

Pulwama Police reiterates its commitment to eradicate the drug menace and urges the general public to share any information regarding illegal narcotic activities with the police. (JKNS)
