Srinagar, May 2 (JKNS): A nationwide test of the mobile-based disaster alert system was conducted on Saturday, with messages delivered to mobile users across various cities at around 11:48 AM.
As per news agency JKNS, the test was carried out as part of an exercise to check the effectiveness of real-time emergency alert dissemination systems across the country.
The alerts were sent in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and regional languages, informing users that it was a test message and did not require any response.
Officials said the system is designed to deliver instant alerts to people in specific geographic areas during emergencies such as natural disasters and other critical situations.
Authorities also issued a public advisory, urging citizens not to panic upon receiving such alerts, clarifying that the exercise was purely a test aimed at strengthening preparedness and communication mechanisms. (JKNS)
