J&K to Host National Rowing Championship; Local Athlete Bags World Cup 2026 Selection in Major Boost to Water Sports

Srinagar, May 3 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports Association holds Key Meeting at Nigeen Club, breaks the news of holding National Rowing Championship in J&K and appraises young Water Sports Athlete from J&K for being Selected for World Cup 2026 at China.

3rd May 2026, Srinagar. A meeting of the Water Sports Association was successfully held at Nigeen Club to strategise the upcoming National Championship and domestic water sports activities in J&K. President JKARS “Dr Burhan Bazaz” delivered the welcome address while congratulating entire water sports community for allotment of Sub Junior National Rowing Championship by Rowing Federation of India. On behalf of JKARS, Dr Bazaz also congratulated the young water sports Athelete “Mohsin Ali” for proudly making it to the World Cup 2026 and quoted it as result of Bilquis Mir’s relentless efforts along dedication of Mohsin Ali. Dr Imran Nazir, vice president JKARS briefed about the upcoming National Championship and paid the vote the thanks to all esteemed members of water sports association. Meeting was attended by all District members and senior members including Mr Muzaffar, Dr Rafi-u-din etc. The meeting also focused on strengthening the grassroot level development through the organization of training camps aimed at nurturing young talent and promoting water sports across region.
During the meeting, members discussed strategic plans to enhance participation, improve performance standards, and create more opportunities for budding athletes. Emphasis was laid on structured training programs and collective efforts to uplift the sport at all levels.
In a major achievement for the association and the region, young and promising athlete Moshin Ali has been selected to represent the country in the Canoe Sprint Marathon discipline for World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in China. His selection is a proud moment and reflects the growing potential of athletes emerging from grassroot initiatives.
The association extended its best wishes to Moshin Ali and reaffirmed its commitment to support athletes across J&K in achieving excellence at national and international platforms. (JKNS)
