Anantnag, May 4 (JKNS): In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Police in Anantnag on Monday busted a concealed narco hideout in Srigufwara area and recovered a huge quantity of charas, officials said.
An official told news agency JKNS, that Anantnag police achieved major success during the investigation of case FIR No. 39/2026 registered at Police Station Srigufwara.
As part of the investigation, a search warrant under Section 41 of BNSS was obtained from the Hon’ble Court of JMIC Bijbehara for conducting a search of the residential premises of accused Abdul Rashid Bhat son of Asadullah Bhat resident of Shitipora.
During the search operation, police successfully detected and busted a concealed hideout allegedly being used for storage of narcotic substances. Upon thorough search of the hideout, approximately 3.9 kilograms of charas-like substance was recovered and seized on the spot in accordance with due legal procedure, he said.
To ensure a professional and scientific search operation, the K9 squad was also pressed into service, which assisted the investigating team during the operation. All necessary legal formalities were completed on the spot and the recovered contraband has been taken into custody as evidence in the case.
Police remains firmly committed towards eliminating the menace of drugs and appeals to the general public to continue sharing information regarding drug peddling or other criminal activities with police for a safer and drug-free society, official said.(JKNS)
