Srinagar, May 06 (JKNS): Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, Sopore Police on Wednesday apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking in the area, officials said.
As per news agency JKNS, Sopore Police have apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Post Putkha.
During naka duty at Wagub Crossing, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, contraband charas-like substance was recovered from his possession and seized as per due procedure.
The accused has been identified as Hafezullah Lone, S/O Ali Mohammad Lone, R/O Wagub Sopore.
Accordingly, FIR No. 69/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterated that strict enforcement against drug peddlers continues across the district and all those involved in drug trafficking will be dealt with firmly under law.
