Karnah, 06 May(JKNS): Karnah Valley, one of the most scenic yet neglected border regions of Kupwara, is emerging as a place with immense tourism potential, as locals urge authorities to focus on infrastructure and tourism development in the area.
Situated across the historic Sadhna Pass, Karnah is surrounded by lush green mountains, dense forests, sparkling streams, and breathtaking valleys that offer unmatched natural beauty. Several picturesque locations including Ragni, Taya, Ismala, Kanainard, Toli, Pathri, Ledi, Zarla, Karano, and Tithwal have become increasingly popular among visitors for their peaceful atmosphere and scenic charm.
Despite its vast tourism potential, residents say the region has remained largely ignored due to poor road connectivity, lack of accommodation facilities, weak communication networks, and limited healthcare services. Locals believe that these shortcomings continue to prevent Karnah from becoming a major tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir.
People of the area have appealed to the government and tourism authorities to take immediate steps for the development of tourism infrastructure in the region. They say that promoting tourism can create significant employment opportunities for local youth and strengthen the region’s economy.
According to residents and experts, priority should be given to improving roads and transport facilities, establishing quality hotels and guest houses, strengthening internet connectivity, and launching promotional campaigns to showcase Karnah’s natural beauty to the world.
Locals further stated that tourism-related sectors such as transport services, hospitality, handicrafts, guiding services, and local products could flourish if proper attention is given to the area.
They expressed hope that with timely intervention and strategic planning, Karnah can soon emerge as one of Kashmir’s leading tourist destinations, attracting both domestic and international tourists while ensuring economic growth and a better future for the people of the border region.(JKNS)
