Budgam, May 7 (JKNS): Joint Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and School Education Kashmir, Syed Shabir Ahmad, on Thursday visited several educational institutions in the Beerwah area to review academic activities and assess the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in schools.
The institutions inspected during the visit included Government Model Middle School Beerwah, Government Middle School Arwah, Girls Higher Secondary School Beerwah, Boys Higher Secondary School Beerwah, Government Middle School Sonpah, Girls Middle School Beerwah, Boys Middle School Beerwah, and Government Middle School Soodipora.
Addressing staff and students during his visit to Government Model Middle School Beerwah and Government Middle School Soodipora, Syed Shabir Ahmad said that the National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes practical and student-centric teaching methods aimed at promoting creativity, critical thinking, and the overall development of students.
He stressed the need to move away from rote learning and adopt practical, experiential, and “learning by doing” approaches in education. He also urged teachers to adopt modern and activity-based teaching methods. Interacting with school staff and students, he appreciated their efforts in maintaining academic standards and ensuring the effective implementation of educational reforms.
On the occasion, Headmaster of Government Model Middle School Beerwah, Ishtiyaq Amin, also addressed the gathering and said that special attention is being given to the holistic development of students under NEP 2020.
He added that various sports, educational, and cultural programmes were organized in the school to further enhance the creative and physical abilities of students.
The visit was aimed at promoting quality education in schools across Beerwah zone and ensuring the effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. (JKNS)
