Srinagar, May 7 (JKNS): Continuing its crackdown against narcotics trafficking under the ongoing anti-drug campaign, Police Station Nowgam on Thursday attached immovable property worth approximately ₹90 lakh belonging to an accused involved in an NDPS case in the Wagoora area of Budgam.
Officials told news agency JKNS, the action was carried out by Police Station Nowgam in coordination with Revenue authorities against accused Mehraj-u-Din Ganie son of Mohammad Ismail Ganie, resident of Ganie Mohalla Wagoora, who is involved in FIR No. 156/2026 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nowgam.
Police said the attached property includes a residential house along with 18 marlas of land falling under Survey No. 273. The property is believed to have been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotic trade and was formally attached following due legal procedure.
The attachment proceedings were conducted at Wagoora in the presence of Naib Tehsildar B.K. Pora, Ashiq Hussain, and two independent witnesses. Officials said the proceedings remained peaceful and all legal formalities were completed on the spot.
Police said the accused is presently at home while further investigation in the case is underway. (JKNS)
